  • In July 2020, the Indian government introduced the UDYAM registration program for MSMEs, or micro, small, and medium-sized businesses. This program was implemented to provide financial support to MSMEs so they could operate efficiently. The goal was to assist MSMEs in lessening the challenges they typically encountered as a result of inadequate funding, stringent terms of payment, and other difficulties with loans and credit.

Payment default by buyers can have a significant negative effect on MSMEs’ financial situation. MSMEs typically rely on payments from customers to fund their operations, grow their business, hire staff, and purchase raw materials for their upcoming orders. The cash flow management of MSMEs is severely impacted when these payments are delayed. MSMEs are saved in this situation by UDYAM registrations. MSMEs are shielded from these kinds of payment defaults by UDYAM registration. The MSME payment terms are outlined in this scheme in detail. After the transaction date, buyers have 45 days to make payment. Additionally, MSMEs have the opportunity to file a complaint with the facilitation if payments are missed or delayed.
